30 days to the job you love - Day 14

With 200,000+ tech layoffs in 2023 and more being let go in early 2024, it is easy to get discouraged. Personally, I have many friends who were and are affected. For those whom I worked with, I am grateful that our paths crossed.

For 30 days, I will post a tip each day to encourage you and give you some suggestions on how to stay motivated during your job search.

Day 14

Searching for a job can be a tough journey, especially when it feels like you're not making any progress. You send in your resume, submit an application, and then wait for weeks without any response. You may even make it to the first round of interviews and think you nailed it, only to wait for a few more weeks without any callback. It's frustrating, and it can be disheartening when you don't have any positive feedback.

I know how hard it is to keep going when you're faced with ongoing rejection. Even the most experienced professionals can struggle with this. But it's important to stay motivated and keep pushing forward. Staying positive during challenging times can be tough, but it's essential for your mental health and job search success. Here are a few things that have helped me stay positive:

- Spend at least an hour a day reading positive books. "The Positive Dog" by Jon Gordon, "The Go-Getter" by Peter B. Kyne, and "The Power of Positive Thinking" by Dr. Norman Vincent Peale are a few easy-read ones to get started. See more suggestions on this website: https://www.theencourageteam.com/30-days

- Write a personal affirmation statement and re-read it several times a day. Just as studies showed that the superman pose can help increase confidence before an interview or positive self-talks can improve exam performance, re-reading your personal affirmation statement has the power to infuse your subconscious mind with strong, positive beliefs about your self-image. It's more important than ever to have a visualized positive self-image of ourselves during times of struggles. I posted a sample here for you to use: https://www.theencourageteam.com/30-days
Don't underestimate the power of positive self-talks. Take sometime today to write and review your personal affirmation statement and remind yourself of your goals and values. Hold your image!

Remember, staying positive is a choice, and it's up to you to make that choice every day. Facing a job loss and searching for a new job is hard work, but you have the mental capacity to push forward and find the right opportunity in the end.

“Every adversity, every failure, every heartache carries with it the seed of an equal or greater benefit.” - Napoleon Hill
